Getting There
From Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania, the journey to Freycinet National Park is an adventure in itself. Departing from the bustling cityscape, travellers embark on a scenic drive along the Tasman Highway, winding their way through verdant countryside and quaint coastal towns. As the road unfolds before them, travellers are treated to panoramic views of rolling hills, azure waters, and rugged cliffs, painting a picture-perfect backdrop for the journey ahead. The drive typically takes around two and a half to three hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

The drive from Launceston to Freycinet typically takes around three to four hours, offering travellers ample opportunities to stop and admire the coastal scenery along the way.
On the other hand, visitors arriving from Launceston can embark on a similarly enchanting journey to Freycinet National Park. Departing from the city’s outskirts, travellers follow the signs towards the coastal town of St. Helens, tracing their path along the picturesque Tasman Highway. As they venture eastward, travellers are greeted by sweeping vistas of fertile farmland, dense forests, and sparkling rivers, setting the stage for a memorable road trip through Tasmania’s unspoiled countryside. But fair warning this route includes steep winding mountain roads. The drive from Launceston to Freycinet typically takes around three to four hours, offering travellers ample opportunities to stop and admire the coastal scenery along the way.
Alternatively, if steep mountain ranges are not to your liking, visitors can head south out of Launceston down the Midland Highway then take a left turn onto the Esk Highway and head east and pick up the Tasman Highway on the coast.

Take the 2nd right when you get to Coles Bay.
